the atmosphere I made above was an atmosphere for a high turret chamber from the short story ¨The Oval Portrait¨ this part of the story takes place in the past. And the mood of the story is gloomy and sad and I know this because it phases things like ¨...derading only the pallet and brushes and other untoward instruments which deprived her of the countenance of her lover.¨ and ¨...turned suddenly to regard his beloved:-She was dead!¨ which make us feel sad for the characters in the story. the theme of this text is cherished what you still have/ don't squander your time with your loved ones. And we can infer this because the text is talking about his wife died because of his own selfishness and the mood makes us feel sad so we know the author wants us to know that life is precious and not to be wasted.
