Though she was not born into Xurugwi tradition, nor had she picked up a flute before marrying into it, Cornelia Pembroke became one of the best known trickster-trappers. Some say the island of Mocrioca remains protected from evil spirits to this day, and that her music can still be heard along the beaches, even though she is long dead.
