Grimmauld Place: Sirius Black's Bedroom

Sirius Black has suffered a terrible day with his family and you vow, not for the first time, to help your boyfriend escape from their clutches. After a desperate letter, you found a way into his bedroom, locking the door from the inside. In cohorts with James Potter, there is a safehouse waiting for him, but for now comforting him will need to suffice. The Blacks are away, attending a Pureblood social event, and you have spent the past few hours with the love of your life, quietly packing his belongings into an enchanted trunk. Night has fallen, and it is time to rest. Lying next to him in bed, to your left you can hear the soft sound of London traffic, Muggle cars driving on the road adjacent to the house. The hum is distant through the thin glass of the tall window. An occasional siren pierces the air but it does nothing to dispel the relaxing sound of the fireplace in front of you. To your right, you can hear Sirius breathing, finally at peace after so much trauma. He is quiet, something that brings you a degree of satisfaction. There are constant footsteps beyond the door, Regulus and Kreacher both walking the landing. You know neither of them will bother you. There is a war coming, and this is only the beginning but, for now, you curl up beside the person you are intent on protecting and tell yourself that everything is going to be okay.
